Sources & Galleries
Vichy is a city that cannot be ignored when it comes to thermal springs. Indeed, some of the springs, which you can find in the Hall des Sources, were discovered by monks in the 15th century and are now sold in bottles all over the world because of their virtues against migraines, insomnia, fatigue or even cramps. Nearly 60 million bottles are sold each year! Discover this incredible heritage near our hotel in Vichy.
During your stay at the Brit Hotel de Grignan in Vichy, visit the Hall des Sources, which was built in 1903 and houses five springs that are used for cures: Grande Grille, Hôpital, Chomel, Lucas and Célestins. The most famous spring water comes from the Source des Célectins, which you can taste for free during your visit to the Hall des Sources. During your visit to this hall, you will be able to admire the incredible architecture of this site, which is an integral part of Vichy's heritage. You will also discover the immense covered gallery, 700 metres long, which leads to the Palais des Congrès. You will not regret this excursion during your stay in our hotel in Vichy!
Walking in Vichy
Vichy has many places to visit. On the banks of the Allier Lake, take a walk along the promenade. Nearly 2km of walks await you between the Célestins beach and the Rotonde, stroll in the Napoleon III park, on the banks of the river or in the adjacent guinguettes. Countless little corners of paradise to discover just a stone's throw from our hotel in Vichy.
Vichy was strongly influenced by the reign of Emperor Napoleon III, who had "Les Chalets Napoléon III" built as a residence during his stays in Vichy. Not far from there, in an adjacent street, several English-style houses were built with their very characteristic "bow windows", these arched windows that create curved bays. These houses were used to house the imperial guard during the Emperor's visit.
Without doubt one of the most beautiful masterpieces of the monarch in Vichy, the Napoleon III park is a so-called "English-style" park with more than 30,000 trees and nearly 230 varieties that you will see during your stay in our hotel in Vichy!
Chapels and churches
The church of Notre-Dame-des-Malades, also known as the church of Saint-Blaise, is located less than 3 minutes walk from our hotel in Vichy and is a landmark of the city of Vichy. The Art Deco style of the interior of the building offers a magnificent contrast to the sobriety of the exterior. The church actually consists of two churches, the old church, which was built in 1714, and the new church, built in 1931. The church of Our Lady of the Sick has the Black Madonna at its heart, who is idolised for her many miracles.
